Are you visually impaired, playful and a little adventurous?
Are you curious about what dance art can be and want to experience it up close?
Do you want to explore the area around Brattørkaia and Trondheim S using senses other than sight and at the same time take part in a dance performance where you yourself participate based on your own wishes and premises?
Are you sighted and wondering what it is like to experience the world without sight?

What is it like to experience dance without seeing?
We live in a world that focuses heavily on our dominant sense: sight.
UNFOLD is a one-on-one sensory journey between the city and the fjord that offers alternative ways to experience and be in touch with the world around us. The performance focuses on encounters through touch and movement, and you decide how actively you want to participate.
Dance artists Karoline Ellingsen Wheeler and Anna Thu Schmidt want to make dance more accessible by creating an interactive performance experience for people with partial or total vision impairment or who are blindfolded. The artists want to offer a safe experience where the audience can explore the area at Brattørkaia through their senses and let their imagination unfold.
To participate, you must register at least one day before the performance. Blind and visually impaired people will be given priority. Sighted participants will be assigned blindfolds. Blindfolds are optional for visually impaired people with little visual orientation. This is not a performance to watch :)
Performance period: 20 August - 3 September 2025, Trondheim

For å delta må du registrere deg minst én dag før arrangementet. Blinde og synshemmede vil bli prioritert. Seende deltakere vil få tildelt bind for øynene.

The video shows different scenes of UNFOLD.
Video image 1: A person standing in front of a railing facing the fjord. Hands touching the wooden surface and moving sideways. The right hand finds a pile with small stones and picks up one. The person is lifting up the arm and drops the stone in the water.
Video image 2: A person is standing in front of a mirror and explores the surface by moving her hands. With her eyes closed, she steps away from the mirror, stretching her arms and eventually letting go of the touch.
Video image 3: Hands are touching the trunk of a tree and sliding up and down. Many small leaves are moving in the wind.
Video image 4: A person is laying on her back with her eyes closed on a turning surface.
Video image 5: One hand is touching and moving along a wavy wall.
Video image 6: 1. A person is sitting and picking small stones out of a small water basin. Another person appears in the background. 2. Image of feet sliding over concrete ground. 3. Two people spinning around each other by holding each others hand with a stretched out arm. 4. Two people running. 5. The text and title UNFOLD appears.
