How to read water #1 is a series of one-on-one performances. Through music and dance Schmidt, Grant or Riris present improvised solos of 15 minutes in front of one spectator. Two chairs opposite of each other in a distance of two meters form the setting for the encounter of listener and musician or dancer and viewer. This format plays with the unknown and aspects around inclusion and exclusion by being conceptually inclusive while offering an exclusive experience. Two people, each in their role as both performers and spectators, form a reality together in a shared space. The roles of the audience and performer are challenged when the viewer is viewed to the same extent as the performer and in that sense co-creating the performance experience.

Water reflection. What do I see?
Is it me?
How do we relate to each other?
Can we find a common rhythm?
Still me?
Still… Stillness.
